{"id":9586,"date":"2019-06-22T17:07:56","date_gmt":"2019-06-23T00:07:56","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/news.consciencelaws.org\/?p=9586"},"modified":"2019-09-21T17:13:05","modified_gmt":"2019-09-22T00:13:05","slug":"major-row-erupts-over-lack-of-abortion-services-in-kilkenny","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/news.consciencelaws.org\/?p=9586","title":{"rendered":"Major row erupts over lack of abortion services in Kilkenny"},"content":{"rendered":"\n<p class=\"author\">Kilkenny Now<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>A BITTER war of words has erupted over the failure of St Luke\u2019s General Hospital in Kilkenny to provide abortions services.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>This morning it was reported that four consultant obstetricians at St Luke\u2019s, among them an anti-abortion campaigner, have written to local GPs to advise that termination services are not available in the hospital.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The letter, signed by Ray O\u2019Sullivan, Raouf Salam, Yuddandi Nagaveni, and Trevor Hayes, said that, following discussions between the four, it was \u201cdecided unanimously that the hospital is not an appropriate location for medical or surgical terminations\u201d.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Mr Hayes was a prominent anti-abortion campaigner during the referendum to repeal the Eighth Amendment in May 2018.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Abortion rights campaigners reacted angrily to the news. . .
