{"id":8684,"date":"2018-05-02T17:34:45","date_gmt":"2018-05-03T00:34:45","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/news.consciencelaws.org\/?p=8684"},"modified":"2018-08-22T18:34:33","modified_gmt":"2018-08-23T01:34:33","slug":"inmo-warns-nurses-could-strike-if-pay-demands-are-not-met","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/news.consciencelaws.org\/?p=8684","title":{"rendered":"INMO warns nurses could strike if pay demands are not met"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><em><strong>RTE<\/strong><\/em><\/p>\n<p class=\"author\">Ingird Miley<\/p>\n<p>Nurses and midwives could strike if their pay demands are not met with salary increases in 2019, according to the Irish Nurses and Midwives Organisation.<\/p>\n<p>Speaking at its annual conference in Cork, General Secretary Phil N\u00ed Sheaghdha said that the union is awaiting publication of a Public Service Pay Commission review of staff shortages among nurses and midwives, which is due next month.<\/p>\n<p>Within the following month, the INMO is due to meet the Government to discuss implementation of the PSPC recommendations to address the difficulties with recruitment and retention.<\/p>\n<p>However, Ms N\u00ed Sheaghdha warned that, if members rejected proposals emanating from those negotiations, the INMO will ballot them for industrial action\u00a0&#8211; &#8220;up to and including the withdrawal of their labour&#8221;.<\/p>\n<p>An emergency motion to that effect will be debated at the conference tomorrow. . . <strong>[<a href=\"https:\/\/www.rte.ie\/news\/ireland\/2018\/0502\/959658-inmo_conference\/\">Full Text<\/a>]<\/strong><\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>RTE Ingird Miley Nurses and midwives could strike if their pay demands are not met with salary increases in 2019, according to the Irish Nurses and Midwives Organisation.
