When my dearest friend asked me to join her virtual book club, I said \u201cSure!\u201d She\u2019s the kind of friend for whom I\u2019d walk over broken glass \u2014 but, moments after I said yes, I thought to myself: \u201cWhat was I thinking? I\u2019ve got seven school-aged kids still at home, mountains of laundry to do every day, and a full-time job.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n

But, because our friendship means so much to me and<\/em> I am not one to walk away from a \u201cSure!\u201d, I’ve stayed in the book club. And I’m glad I did.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Thank goodness for audiobooks. I\u2019ve been able to keep up with the \u201creading\u201d as I walk the family black Labrador puppy. (Again, what was I thinking?) The third book in our list is To Kill a Mockingbird<\/em> by Harper Lee. I know everybody\u2019s supposed to have read this in high school, but I can\u2019t honestly remember whether I did.
